The “Mind the STEM Gap - Together” show offers a gallery of eclectic, provocative, colourful and original posters on the theme of gender equality in the sciences. The authors of the works are 150 students from high schools in Lombardy. Working in groups, the students drew ideas from the “Mind the STEM Gap” Manifesto in which Fondazione Bracco (the Bracco Foundation) articulates its support for increasing women’s access to STEM subjects. The posters show stereotypes to be avoided, role models to be emulated, and good practices to be followed.
From 15 September to 30 November 2023, the poster show will tour various schools in Lombardy. The first leg of the tour is the “Albe Steiner” secondary school of Milan with its 1,100 students, staff and teachers.
On 4 October 2023, the exhibition will transfer to “Viganò” high school in Merate.
Information on the next tour destinations will be made available soon.
Meanwhile, a social campaign is underway encouraging students to choose and " travel with their favourite poster” with a view to sparking conversation around this important issue and promoting the exhibition’s messages online.
The full exhibition, set up on the premises of Centro Diagnostico Italiano (CDI), remains open and free to the public until 29 October.
It is also possible to visit the digital version of the exhibition here (https://www.einsteinvimercate.edu.it/blog/mind-the-stem-gap-together/).
“Mind the STEM Gap - Together” is the brainchild of the Bracco Foundation, which runs the educational and cultural project in concert with Politecnico di Milano and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano with the support of the Region of Lombardy through the “Together” call for projects.
